GAP Changemaker Registration and Application FAQs

1. What is GAP?

Global Action on Poverty (GAP) builds and supports changemaking communities to eradicate poverty in all forms.

2. Who/What is a changemaker?

Changemakers are a diverse set of committed, passionate individuals or organizations who are tirelessly working to bring people out of poverty in myriad ways. GAP provides these Changemakers a range of resources and capabilities through Partners, to enable them to transform the level at which they work.

3. Why should we register with GAP?

GAP has built a spectrum of services and resources to address Changemaker needs to widen and deepen their impact. Changemakers will derive enormous benefit from various GAP programs, such as GAP Funds, GAP Shared Services, GAP Volunteers, GAP Learn, GAP Coaching, GAP Partner Networks, GAP Leadership Programs, and others.

GAP Changemakers have been able to connect with relevant individuals, leverage coaching to expand their leadership capabilities, find effective strategies for their organization’s growth which has enabled them to take their initiative to the next level and most importantly, create a larger impact on the communities they serve.

4. What is the process of registration and application?

There are three steps in the process of the Changemaker registration and application;

  • STEP 01: (Registration)
Register your details with us (takes approximately 10 minutes to complete). Upon completion of registration receive an info kit from GAP with relevant details and next steps
  • STEP 02: (Application)
Login to provide additional details to complete your application (takes 20 minutes)
  • STEP 03: (Selection)
Once you are shortlisted, we will call you for a telephonic discussion that would last for a maximum of half an hour.

At the completion of each stage, you will receive an acknowledgement and communication about the next step.

5. Can I register or apply if I have an idea for creating social impact but have not yet started to work on it?

We do prefer applications where there is a demonstrated commitment and the Changemaker has worked on the idea for at least a year. That said, we welcome applications from those who have a powerful idea even if they are yet to implement it. The potential to scale or grow the initiative is an important criteria that we are looking for.

6. Why is GAP ‘Selecting’ Changemakers (CMs)? What are the benefits of getting selected as GAP CM?

GAP welcomes all registered Changemakers as members into its fold and we open out access to several resources and services to them.

However, some of the GAP programs require intense involvement of resources. To ensure we are able to cater to all our Changemaker’s needs, we select a certain number of CMs that are best suited for these programs and services. As we grow, the number of CMs that we select to work with closely will increase.

7. Which are the areas that GAP is accepting applications from?

Agriculture, Education, Livelihoods & Enterprise, Water Sanitation & Energy, Healthcare, Financial Inclusion.

8. Is there a deadline for submitting applications?

We urge you to submit the application as early as possible due to the reasons mentioned above. We are able to take in a limited number of GAP Changemakers into our fold this year. An early application will be very helpful to complete the selection process and open out relevant resources to those selected.

9. How to apply? What if I do not have connectivity / online access?

You can apply in three ways - please choose the one that is most convenient for you:

  • You can complete the Application Form here. If you have any problems when completing the applications online, please call our GAP helpline (number given below)
  • Download a pdf version of the application from our website, complete it, scan and email it back to us at changemakers@head-held-high.org
  • Alternatively, you can request a printed application form by calling the helpline (+91 88846 04881 (10 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday)). We will send it to you the application by post and you could courier the completed application back to us on our mailing address.

10. What happens if I lose connectivity while filling the online application?

The form comes with a feature, which saves the details you have entered and you can continue from where you left off next time.

11. Which languages are available for the application/selection process?

We are currently able to support English and Hindi. We hope to expand our reach eventually.

12. What happens after I get through all stages and get selected?

GAP will have an organized induction process for the selected Changemakers to introduce them to the network, the various programs and services available to them. It will be an interactive session, which will take place as in-person meetings in several locations across India as well as through online webinars. The induction is being planned for March 2017. The details of which will be communicated to the selected Changemaker.

13. What happens if I am not selected?

We reiterate that all those who have registered with us are part of the GAP community. We will extend access to several services to all registered members (even those that are not selected as GAP Changemakers). Your engagement with GAP is an interactive and iterative process. As we enhance our offerings and capabilities, we are open to reviewing your application at a later stage as well.
